    • An email from Alan Tate:

I am a descendant of Col. John Tate through his son John. I notice that you list Col. John's son as John Tate who married Ms. Mayse. I would like to make the case that the John who married Mayse is not the son of Col. John but the son of another John Tate from central Virginia. Col. John's son named John, I contend, was born in 1769 and married Sarah Darity and had a son named (what else) John, who is my ggg grandfather. Sarah and her husband divorced in Russell Co., Va and she and her son John moved to Claiborne Co., Tn, then both moved to Monroe Co., Indiana where mother and son are buried side by side in the Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
