• Notes

  The Layne genealogy book lists David as a wagon-maker married to a woman named Tennessee and the father of several children. The wagon-maker part is correct as we see in the 1860 census in Grundy County, however Tennessee is the wife of his brother Abraham K. The children listed are theirs as well. 1860 is the last time we find evidence of David. The Civil War began when David was 25, so perhaps he left home to participate in that struggle and did not return.
