On the outside
Well looks like I was mistaken. In my last post I mentioned that I was asked for some input on the new Music City Bloggers site and the possibility was raised of some sort of partnership with a digg like companion site. As it turns out there was only one person with any real interest in that idea. And even that may have been more of a courtesy than true interest. So the MCB group is moving along with whatever plans they’ve made and I’m twiddling my thumbs. I’d like to say that I’m not disappointed, but it does bother me. Little bit. I’d been trying to connect a little more locally lately, but a bit too late perhaps to be considered one of the gang.
So, what to do? What to do?
[ time passes ]
I just read this post that Kathy made and how there are now at least four of these sort of meta blog thingies: NiT, About-Nashville, Music City Bloggers, and Metroblogging Nashville. So it could be argued that TN Blog Watch only contributes to the problem. But then I wonder… perhaps these sites already have their audience, and the existing audience is the primary source of material. If that’s the case then is there room for another whose aim is to find those bloggers who aren’t yet showing up on the radar screens of the big four? Well, probably not 🙂 But, that’s what I’m going to try and do with TBW. It’s either that or abandon it to my junk drawer of ideas. Not sure anything else will fit in that drawer. Besides that I just got finished making it all purty. Not the drawer, the web site. You know. Anyway, with that in mind, if you read someone local that doesn’t seem to show up on any of those sites I mentioned above, be sure and give them a plug on TBW.
And even that may have been more of a courtesy than true interest.
Not at all. I’m very interested. (See your email.)
My opinion is the same as it’s always been; that we should have some top-level integration.
Yes Casey… I think we are in the same boat. I’m going to update my post to include the Tn Blogger Watch site.
Casey – Based on some of the conversations I’ve been a part of, the issue is HOW to integrate TBW into the site. We feel we need a traditional aggregator to be more inclusive, but a lot of us would like to see some type of connection to TBW, perhaps thru sidebar widget.
The other blogs – metroblogging, etc. you mentioned are not really doing the same thing as NIT ‘did’ (maybe they’ll still do it) and Music City Bloggers intends to do. Metroblogging is looking for stories ABOUT Nashville. NIT/MCB are looking for posts FROM Nashvillians (and folks who somehow are connected to Nashville thru-out the state.
Your ideas are good. Don’t give up on us yet!

I appreciate that John and I’m still happy to help as needed.
In the meantime, I’ll keep poking at TBW. I’ve got to figure a way to increase participation before it will reach it’s potential. Perhaps I should offer a bounty to the top user or something…
Casey,
It is of the good.
Things are moving so fast and What you did was amazing.
It’s all of the good. 🙂
Now, when I see you next, can I drink beer with you.
